New Date and Location for Luxury Travel Advisor’s ULTRA Summit 2017

NEW YORK (Feb. 27, 2017) ─ Questex Travel Group announced Luxury Travel Advisor’s ULTRA Summit will be held May 21-23, 2017 at the historic Watergate Hotel in Washington, DC.

Celebrating its fifth year, the event will unite the world’s most elite travel advisors and suppliers for an exclusive discussion about the latest research and trends in ultra-luxury travel.

“Luxury Travel Advisor’s ULTRA Summit invites an unparalleled group of travel agency owners and managers whose diverse experiences, unique insights and varying opinions deliver a broad range of perspectives on the ever-evolving ultra-luxury niche,” said Ruthanne Terrero, Questex Travel Group vice president of content and editorial director of Luxury Travel Advisor. “They are the select few who suppliers turn to when shaping the experiences that will ultimately become trends with their affluent client base.”

ULTRA Summit brings some of the world’s most prestigious suppliers together with a cross-section of ultra-luxury advisors who drive hundreds of millions in luxury travel revenue annually and represent independent and affiliated agencies with membership in the top consortia, including Virtuoso, Signature Travel Network, Ensemble Travel Group,  American Express and Travel Leaders Group.

Leading off the event will be keynote speaker Craig Compagnone, senior vice president, business strategy for MMGY Global, authors of the annual “Portrait of American Travelers” (POAT). Compagnone will highlight the findings of the 2016-17 POAT report, focusing on the luxury sector, how it is changing, and the expectations of the new affluent traveler.

Attending advisors and suppliers will also be honored guests at the event’s annual Awards of Excellence ceremony, which recognizes the top luxury suppliers in the travel industry.

A longtime favorite of the luxury travel sector, the ULTRA Summit continues to earn consistently high reviews from both advisors and suppliers alike. According to company surveys, 100 percent of both travel advisors and suppliers who attended the 2016 event said they would like to attend it again in 2017.

The Watergate Hotel, most famous for 1970s Nixon-era scandal, was originally opened in 1967 and designed by Italian architect Luigi Moretti. While closed for nearly a decade, the hotel reopened in June 2016 with a gorgeous, $200 million renovation reminiscent of the 1960s and is expected to provide an incredible backdrop for the history buffs attending the event.

Intimate one-to-one appointments will be intermixed with lively panels, engaging presentations and discussions, elegant networking functions, thought-provoking educational content and interactive, 15-minute “pop-up panels,” in which a moderator will identify topics and randomly select delegates to participate based on the numbers on the back of their badges.
